TOOL / EARLY PROTOTYPE / BROWSER INSTRUMENT
Phosphor
Draw the cycle. Draw the space. Play the result.
A browser instrument shaped by drawing. One drawn period becomes the oscillator. One drawn contour becomes the space it sounds in. Draw a curve, hold a note, and hear what changes.
- Status
- Early prototype

- Web Audio
- Space IR
- 1–3 s, drawn
- Note loop

The public browser instrument in its Phosphor treatment, recorded on 13 October 2026.
BROWSER STILL01 / DRAWN STRUCTURES
The signal path, drawn by hand.
The main graph sits left, the control rack right, the keyboard full width below. Most editors take a drawing; A/B Morph captures two cycles instead. Four Figurestead treatments change how the instrument is rendered—not how it sounds.
- CYCLE
- Draw one oscillator period. The drawing becomes a Web Audio PeriodicWave.
- A/B MORPH
- Capture two cycles and interpolate between them while notes are held.
- MOTION
- Draw a BPM-synchronized morph trajectory. It can also move Drive, Chorus, and Space.
- DRIVE / CHORUS
- Draw the transfer function after the low-pass filter, then the stereo delay-time cycle that follows it.
- SPACE
- Draw the macro contour of a 1–3 second impulse response. Deterministic microstructure beneath it becomes the actual convolution IR.
02 / MOTION + NOTE LOOP
A take recorded in beats, not audio.
Note loop records one unquantized performance from the onscreen piano or QWERTY keys, over 1, 2, 4, or 8 bars of fixed 4/4. It stores note positions, not sound, so every repeat plays through the current drawing, morph, and effects. Motion runs beside it on its own start and phase.
03 / NATIVE STUDY
A smaller instrument for iPhone and Mac.
A separate native Cycle Study explores drawing and playing a waveform on iOS and macOS. It is in local playtesting, with source available for development. The public browser instrument remains the version to try now; a public App Store or TestFlight release is not available.
04 / PLAY THE INSTRUMENT
Draw a period. Hold a note.
The instrument requires JavaScript and Web Audio. This folio’s image, text, and destinations remain available without JavaScript. Open the instrument to draw and hear the result.
